About Dakota Hornsby
Dakota is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate who specializes in working with individuals, couples, and families facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, BPD, trauma, and life transitions.
Evidence-based practices such as Narrative Family Therapy, CBT, DBT, Gottman, and Bowen Family Therapy, are frequently incorporated into sessions. Dakota has been practicing as a Licensed Certified Counselor for the past year, she obtained her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy and had the privilege of joining the International Marriage and Family Honor Society due to her hard work and dedication. With authenticity, empathy, and curiosity, she provides a warm non-judgmental approach tailored specifically to her client's needs. Dakota believes that therapy is a collaborative process, she enjoys incorporating clients's; interests into sessions, providing a space for creativity and connection. She helps clients create meaningful change in their lives candidly.
Outside of therapy, Dakota enjoys spending time with her loved ones, baking, reading, and traveling. Her love for travel and helping others drove her to a service-learning experience in Galway, Ireland where she had the opportunity to assist adults in navigating the challenges of their disabilities. Dakota was inspired to further expand her cultural competency, consulting with colleagues across the world in the US, Brazil, Philippines, and Greece during her internship. She has spent a total of 6 years working in client-facing roles, and holds great appreciation for client's worldviews, as she understands that the client knows their experience better than anyone else. Dakota is passionate about embracing change and taking the opportunity to grow every step of the way.
