Thoughtful Counseling Group
Deanna is a proud Army Veteran who has been working in the field of counseling since 2015. She earned her Doctorate in Psychology with a specialization in Grief Counseling from Breyer State Theology University and holds an undergraduate degree in Special Education.
Throughout her career, Deanna has gained extensive experience working with combat veterans, first responders, CPS, couples, children, families, and the LGBTQ community. She has supervised new therapists and previously served as the director of a psychiatric hospital.
Deanna uses the Gottman approach for couples, a method backed by more than twenty years of research on building healthy, lasting relationships. She also enjoys incorporating art, Motivational Interviewing, CBT, and DBT into her work with teens and provides trauma informed care for adults. Deanna understands that every client is unique, so she draws from a wide range of therapeutic modalities to meet each person’s individual needs.
She especially enjoys working with first responders and mentoring new therapists. Deanna is also the author of the book Meeting My Therapist, written to help normalize therapy for families. Her book is available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Walmart, Target, and Book Baby online, as well as in our office. She is currently working on her next publication.
Deanna’s approach to therapy is nonjudgmental, caring, and compassionate. She believes that no one gets to define who you are unless you allow them to, and she looks forward to walking alongside you on your journey toward healing, hope, and recovery.
She provides in person and telehealth sessions, as well as Biofeedback Therapy, Neurofeedback Therapy, and Ketamine Assisted Therapy services.
